DDC polls: Time over for NC, PDP’s dynasty rule: Chug

Abid Bashir
Srinagar, Dec 5: Accusing the National Conference and PDP of resorting to “open loot of J&K’s resources through dynasty rule”, Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary Tarun Chug Saturday said that time is over for the dynasty rule in J&K and the “Gupkar gang” is feeling unnerved over the growing popularity of BJP in Kashmir and Jammu regions.
Addressing a press conference in a hotel at Srinagar, Chug said it was for the first time that District Development Council (DDC) polls are being held in J&K and he was glad to see that people are coming out in large numbers to vote for the candidates who come from villages and ground zero. “This is an indication that time for dynasty politics is over now in J&K. Dynasty leaders, who till yesterday, fought against each other and were arch rivals, are today against BJP.
He said this is because they are feeling unnerved by BJP’s growing popularity. “BJP is growing in J&K like a storm and reach every village and district”.
Chug said if one compares the 1960’s picture of Mumbai, Banglaore and Hyderabad with Srinagar and Jammu, difference is huge and quite obvious. “See how Mumbai emerged as a dream city for everyone who visits it. Bangalore is a technology hub today and Hyderabad is a place, where dreams come true.”
“Delhi is a metropolitan city where life moves at a great speed. The question remains why Srinagar and Jammu remained away from the development,” Chug said, adding that “Srinagar and Jammu will be taken to new heights. Now that democracy is flourishing in J&K, Srinagar and Jammu should be compared with Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad in 2030 now. Difference will be visible.”
He said corruption and nepotism promoted by the dynasty leaders, choked development in J&K. “Late Mufti Muhammad Sayed spoke against corruption when he took over but never acted against NC’s big fish”.
Taking a dig at Mehbooba Mufti, Chug said her daughter sits in New Delhi and tweets about “this and that” why should sons of others pick up guns. (KNO)

JK people were living in darkness since 70 years: Shahnawaz

Jahangeer Ganaie

Srinagar, Dec 5: Former Union Minister and national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Syed Shahnawaz Hussain Saturday said that regional parties in J&K joined hands first time in 70 years as they know BJP is very strong.

Addressing a gathering at Walerhama, Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Shahnawaz said that NC and PDP came together first time in 70 years to hide their scams, but high level probe is on and nobody will be spared.

“People here in J&K are very poor because of three dynasties that is Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, Abdullah-dynasty and Mufti-dynasty who only know how to stay in power and how to fill own coffers. BJP is giving people of J&K every opportunity to work for the development of your region and to do away with the dynasty rule,” he said.

In DDC, D means development, another D means dynasty free and C means corruption free J&K, said Shahnawaz.

Lashing out at the PAGD, the BJP’s former cabinet minister said “Gupkar gang” has decided to contest DDC elections to hide their scams as they failed to do anything for the welfare of people in the past 70 years.

He said if BJP is given a chance, it will work for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir people and avail an opportunities of employment for them.  (KNO)

Our leaders, candidates denied security: Congress

Precious Kashmir News
Srinagar, Dec 5: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday alleged that the party candidates and leaders are being denied security.
Former minister and senior Congress leader, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who was accompanied by the party vice president G N Monga, while addressing a news conference, said Congress leaders and the party’s DDC candidates are being deprived of the security.
“Such is the height that the officials concerned don’t bother to take our calls as they know that the phone call is being made to seek security,” he said.
He said it is difficult to move around without security. “It is imperative to have security while venturing out as anybody who raises a slogan of India in Kashmir, there is always a threat for him,” he said.
The Congress leader said he is categorized in the Z plus category, but has no security cover at all.
“Despite being attacked many times in the past, the security cover given to me has been withdrawn,” he said, adding that there are many Congress leaders as well as the party candidates contesting the ongoing polls who have the same complaints.
“Whenever we demand security to visit any place, we are being told that there is no vehicle available. If such is the case then what was the need to conduct elections,” he asked while stating that the time has gone when a few voters were coming out to cast ballots as the people in large numbers are exercising their franchise in Kashmir.
“In contrary, the leaders of BJP and its allies including Apni Party are being provided adequate security while other parties are being pushed to the wall,” he alleged. (KNO)

3 college students from Kashmir set up Plasma donation online group

Sofi Jahangir
Srinagar, Dec 5: One of the critical aspects for Covid-19 treatment, in the mid of crises especially for those who were infected was finding a Plasma donor.
When lockdown was imposed, there was chaos and fear among people. Covid19 cases were increasing every passing day, deaths were being reported from all over the world.
Oxygen supply felt short, ventilators and PPE Kits were discussed, those who turned Covid Positive their families had to face social stigma. Such was the situation people hardly ventured out of their homes, a speculative narrative was built that even air we breathe may be infected with virus if a Covid infected person would have crossed or travelled on road. A kind of mystical faith and belief was set all around the covid-19 by people. Though the fact stands, research and studies are still in conclusive on Covid-19 Virus.
In Kashmir situation was not far away from the chaotic scenes with strict lockdown in place and administration was on toes. But there was no respite as Covid positive cases and deaths were being reported from every nook and corner of the valley.
With no medicine and vaccine around, Plasma was widely discussed and introduced and Medical experts believed this can be helpful in reducing mortality rate. This was a breather and people had a sigh of relief.
Medical experts stated a recovered covid19 infected person can donate Plasma to a Covid infected person and that can act as cure for covid19 patient to some extent and this process was introduced in different parts of the world.
Srinagar based three collage students from Kashmir formed a WhatsApp group called “Plasma Donors Kashmir” to reach out to the people who needed the plasma.
Amaan- a founding member of the group while speaking to News Agency Kashmir News Trust said, ” It all started when one of our friend’s father got infected with covid19 and we needed the plasma donor as advised by doctors but no one was coming forward, our friend’s family and our entire friend circle circulated the message to search out plasma donor, and when finally we got a donor it was too late and our friend’s father had expired.”
“That was a shocker for us despite of hectic efforts only one donor came forward, so that was the trigger we decided to reach out to people who were in need of Plasma. We found that plasma was the need of the hour, as people were desperate to find a donor”, said Amaan.
Aitshaam- another founding member of the group while speaking to KNT said, “The challenge was to find a donor and for plasma, a donor should have recovered from COVID and should have passed the 28 days recovery period after testing negative. Most importantly, the plasma should be of high value, which means the donor should not have any co-morbidities and pass some other criteria. This was an uphill task. We are thankfully to Almighty till date we have arranged more than 350 donors and we feel very good about it.”
“The idea was to call those who were infected and who have recovered, to convince them to become a donor. But the major challenges were to get a list of patients, convince them. Once the donor would be ready we used to arrange the conference call between the donor and the family, this is how the process worked, while most of our calls turned out to be cold and were rejected on some ground. But we did not lose heart”, said Faheem
“We were three friends when we started this initiative and today we are more than 300 volunteers in group to reach out to Covid-19 patients who need plasma” they said in one voice. (KNT)

They said the Ministers would send a ”concrete proposal” on December nine. The proposal would be discussed by the farmers leaders after which a meeting would be held.
