Our leaders, candidates denied security: Congress

Precious Kashmir News
Srinagar, Dec 5: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday alleged that the party candidates and leaders are being denied security.
Former minister and senior Congress leader, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who was accompanied by the party vice president G N Monga, while addressing a news conference, said Congress leaders and the party’s DDC candidates are being deprived of the security.
“Such is the height that the officials concerned don’t bother to take our calls as they know that the phone call is being made to seek security,” he said.
He said it is difficult to move around without security. “It is imperative to have security while venturing out as anybody who raises a slogan of India in Kashmir, there is always a threat for him,” he said.
The Congress leader said he is categorized in the Z plus category, but has no security cover at all.
“Despite being attacked many times in the past, the security cover given to me has been withdrawn,” he said, adding that there are many Congress leaders as well as the party candidates contesting the ongoing polls who have the same complaints.
“Whenever we demand security to visit any place, we are being told that there is no vehicle available. If such is the case then what was the need to conduct elections,” he asked while stating that the time has gone when a few voters were coming out to cast ballots as the people in large numbers are exercising their franchise in Kashmir.
“In contrary, the leaders of BJP and its allies including Apni Party are being provided adequate security while other parties are being pushed to the wall,” he alleged. (KNO)
