With the onset of winters in Kashmir, as the temperatures continue to plummet, the locals have started using gas heaters to evade the bone chilling cold. However, in previous winters there has been many cases of deaths due to the carbon monoxide generated in the unvented rooms.
In this regard, the health care professionals of Jammu and Kashmir have come up to save the innocent lives and have issued the much needed advisory against the use of unvented gas heaters in the rooms without ventilation.
It is a much needed awareness that will ensure will the safety not only to safeguard the lives but also the properties of the people.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can be easily prevented by using it with utmost care.
The doctors and other and health professionals are working as frontline workers in spreading the awareness among the people of Kashmir especially towards those who are unaware of the issue and the consequences of using unvented gas heaters.
This notice allows parents, children, and elders to understand the importance of ventilation and most importantly, the assessment of any heater they may be utilizing.
This advisory also represents an opportunity for something positive. We should all move towards a collective commitment to a safer alternative, that may be upgrading your poorly vented heater, switching to heat from electric sources, or at least reverting to older safer means of heating.
We are not just avoiding a hazard if we take the expert recommendations in this style of communication – we will intentionally choose to keep our loved ones safe.
This winter, let the warmth radiant from our homes be matched equally to our heart and peace of mind knowing we took an easy and smart step towards protecting our loved ones great health and safety.
