Progressive education

With the announcement of commencing with a National Law University (NLU) from next year, Jammu and Kashmir is all set to witness an historic transformation in one of vital sectors of higher education.

The setting up of NLU is merely not only an initiative to provide education but it also serves a purpose that the newly announced premier education will nurture the professional journeys and a future of the youth at par with the global talent.

With the establishment of this premier institute, the upcoming lawyers and scholars of J&K will live their dreams as the NLU will not have to move to other states to pursue the law degrees.

The NLU will not only be beneficial for the students of Jammu and Kashmir but also will serve a greater purpose in bringing the brightest legal think-tanks of national and international level symposiums.

The new faculty will be one of the most vocal and dissenting academic forces of the future and will train a new generation of lawyers, judges, and bureaucrats, who will, hopefully, not only be legally aware but also quite sensitive to the socio-legal context of J&K.

The travel experience itself was mostly grind not only in terms of money but also in terms of time and effort. For some, it was not really a choice to pay for the travel expenses.

The priority now obviously has to be to get that academic engine started and in this function-first model the students will be made very clear that their futures will not be shortened.

Like NLU, there is a need for more educational institutes at school and higher education levels in Jammu and Kashmir to make it a hub of premier educational hub. The government must also shift its focus on further strengthening the public institutes so that the students will not have to move to other places to get the quality education.
