A new dawn for Kashmir

The engineering triumph of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) which is set for inauguration by Prime Minister Modi is commendable, however the lesser known aspect lies in challenging the engineering feats of endurance and endurance construction methods. It will effectively ease transport and trade in the most treacherous regions of India.

The newly developed railway access to the USBBRL has dramatically improved access to this previously inaccessible region of the Himalayas for people tourists and certainly businessmen.

For decades, the residents suffered from an impenetrable obstacle in the form of geographical terrain, cutting off seamless connectivity. Now, they are finally getting closer to their long-cherished dream transport corridor.

“Not to forget, the development works of Rs 46000 crores projects to be inaugurated by the PM in Katra substantiates that he conceives Jammu & Kashmir’s broader prospects of development.”

“He has also made strides in developing roads and power infrastructure, in addition to health and education. Increased development will improve livelihood potential and enable rapid Indian integration.”

“His efforts towards Katra, a well-regarded pilgrimage spot for followers of Vaishno Devi show the increased focus towards spiritual tourism that can be used to jumpstart some local economies.”

Construction development brings new job opportunities, better security because of improved connections, and a sense of togetherness among the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.

There is a need for the government to ensure that all these projects are completed accurately and on time while maintaining transparency so that the desired outcomes can be achieved.

It cannot be refuted that Jammu and Kashmir is developing with new infrastructural advancements, especially after the inaugurations by the Prime Minister, who has made them a centre piece of his national agenda plans.

The country has great expectations with Kashmir which is embarking on a new journey of development, and these rail links and other infrastructural development works symbolize much more than just steel and mass.
