The vigilance week ended on November 7 and according to the government, there has been immense progress in mitigating corruption. Quoting the “latest” data, it says the same indicates that more than 52 lac applications have been processed for availing various services in the online mode of which more than 42 lac have been disposed off.
To ensure time-bound delivery of online services, e-services are progressively being covered under the Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA) with linkage to Auto-Appeal System (AAS) which escalates breach of timeline cases to the next authority for action against defaulting officers.
As of now, it said, around 64000 appeals have been generated with 32000 appeals disposed of. Apart from it, penalty proceedings have been initiated against 55 officers who have delayed delivery of various services in the Revenue Department.
There is need for financial discipline in checking the abuse of discretionary authority. The government says functioning of BEAMS and PaySys linked digital payments have further streamlined the disbursal of timelines. In tandem with these initiatives, the administration says it has achieved 100 per cent disbursal of financial assistance under 55 flagship schemes in the UT exclusively through DBT mode.
As per the government several strategies were adopted to fight corruption and to educate the general public about its perils.
Chief Secretary of JK had asked the Incharge Secretaries of the districts to intensively monitor the activities carried out under the Vigilance Awareness Week and sensitize the public about its importance during the public darbars they would hold in their concerned districts. He asked them to encourage the public to avail all the services right from their homes using digital platforms or DigiDost facility for removing the chances of corruption.
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week remains one of the primary tools of preventive vigilance with the focus on building awareness and re-affirming the commitment of everyone to uphold integrity in public governance. Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year to commemorate the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The focus areas of the celebrations was to bring greater awareness on complaints under Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers and conduct Special Clearance Campaign for clearing all outstanding vigilance matters.
Many outreach programmes and activities were organized regarding the preventive vigilance measures that are to be taken up as focus areas during the period
Also thousands of camps were held across the districts from Panchayat level to raise awareness among the citizens to fight and root out the menace of corruption from Jammu Kashmir. Such initiates should be continued.
