Kulgam youth suicide: JKPCC, AP, CPI (M) shocked, grieved

Urge LG to order investigation to fix responsibility

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Apni Party and CPI (M) have termed the suicide incident of Kulgam youth as shocking.

Reacting to the suicide incident in Kulgam, JKPCC in a statement said that the officials responsible for withholding the salary of a teacher for about a year, as reported, should be held accountable.

The party urged the Lieutenant Governor administration to order investigation into matter to fix responsibility. “The Government should release the salary of all similarly situated employees working in various departments to ensure that no other incident of such nature happens,” the statement added.

Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari expressed deep shock and grief over a heartbreaking incident over the suicide incident.

In a statement, Bukhari termed the incident as extremely disturbing wherein a youth in order to draw attention of the people at the helms of affairs towards the sufferings of his family has had to give up his life.

“This highly horrible incident depicts an appalling picture of the level of mental stress and trauma of the families whose salaries have been withheld by an apathetic bureaucratic set-up even in the pressing times of Covid-19 pandemic. I hope the incident acts as an eye opener and a wake-up call for the government,” he said.

He demanded that a strict action must be taken against those officials whose impervious attitude resulted in this sad incident. He urged the Lt. Governor of J&K to order a thorough probe in this matter on humanitarian grounds and bring the officers to book whose lackadaisical approach forced the youth to sacrifice his life.

Bukhari also demanded that the families of the teachers whose salaries have been withheld due to some reasons must not be allowed to suffer and the departed should immediately release their salaries before they are forced to resort to such unwarranted actions.

While expressing shock and grief over the suicide incident, CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami demanded a time-bound probe and fixing of responsibility into the incident.

“The youth, who was a son of a government school teacher, was reportedly forced to take an extreme step after his father was denied salary for the past two years. Even if reports of his father being a former militant are true, it should have been verified before he entered into service,” Tarigami said in a statement.

“Media reports say that after verification, he was allowed to join the job as part of the government’s rehabilitation policy for former militants. Why are such people and their families being punished for it now? If somebody has shunned the path of violence 20 years back and returned to the mainstream, he should be allowed to live peacefully,” he added.

“There is a need to hold a proper probe into the incident which led to this teacher’s young son to take such a harsh step. I hope J&K Lieutenant Governor will order a probe into this incident and bring the officers to book whose lackadaisical approach forced the youth to take his life,” he said.

Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen also expressed profound grief and shock over a heart wrenching suicide incident by a youth of Kulgam.

He said the cause of the suicide narrated by the youth in a recorded video message speaks volumes about callous attitude adopted by the authorities at the helm of affairs towards timely redressal of grievances of the common people especially youth.

Yaseen said it was shocking that the youth has been forced to take the extreme step to commit suicide just to invite government attention towards the miseries of his family due to non-payment of salary to his father who is a teacher.

PM Modi led Govt completes 7 years in office

Says followed ‘Sabka-Saath, Sabka-Vikas, Sabka-Vishwas’

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, during his monthly radio broadcast – ‘Mann Ki Baat’, claimed that his government followed mantra ‘Sabka-Saath, Sabka-Vikas, Sabka-Vishwas’ (everyone’s cooperation, development, trust) as the BJP-led NDA government completed seven years in office at the Centre.

“My dear countrymen, today on 30th May we are having ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and incidentally, it also marks the completion of 7 years of the government. Over these years, the country has followed the mantra of ‘Sabka-Saath, Sabka-Vikas, Sabka-Vishwas’,” Modi said in Hindi.

On the achievements of the seven years of his government, Modi said, ‘Whatever we have accomplished in these 7 years, it has been of the country, of the countrymen. Together, we have experienced many moments of national pride in these years.”

“When we observe that now India moves ahead not with the thought and pressure of other countries but with her own conviction, then we all feel proud,” he said.

“When we witness that now India gives a befitting reply to those who conspire against us, then our confidence soars. When India does not compromise on the issues of national security, when the strength of our armed forces increases, we feel that yes, we are on the right path,” he said.

Modi said in the seven decades after independence, only three and a half crore rural homes of the country had water connections.

However, just in the last 21 months, four and a half crore houses have been given clean water connections, he said. ‘Of these, 15 months were of the Corona period!’, the Prime Minister said.

In these seven years, many old contestations of the country have also been resolved with complete peace and harmony, he said.

New confidence of peace and development has arisen from the northeast to Kashmir, the Prime Minister said.

“Friends, have you thought all such work which could not be achieved even in decades, how were they done in these 7 years? All this was possible because in these 7 years, more than as the Government or as the people, we worked together as one country. We worked as a team. We worked as Team India,” he said.

“In these 7 years together, we have overcome many difficult tests as well, and each time we have all emerged stronger. In the form of the Corona pandemic, we are being continuously put to test. This is a crisis that has plagued the whole world, so many people have lost their loved ones. Even big countries were not spared from its devastation,” the Prime Minister said.

He said in the midst of this pandemic, India is moving forward with the resolve of – ‘service and cooperation’.

‘In the first wave, we fought courageously; this time too India will be victorious in the ongoing fight against the virus. Be it social distancing, rules related to masks or vaccines, there should be no letup in our efforts,’ the Prime Minister said. (UNI)

The Home Minister further said, “For the last 7 years, the people of the country have consistently expressed their unwavering faith in Modi ji’s service and dedication, for which I bow to the countrymen. I am confident that under the visionary leadership of Modi ji, we will overcome every challenge and continue India’s developmental journey uninterrupted,” Shah further said in another tweet. (UNI)

He said that experts from the relevant field were consulted and it has been found that vaccine is 100 percent safe and news attributed to it was not right.

Vaccination pivotal for heart patients: Dr Imran Hafeez

Srinagar: Dr Imran Hafeez, Consultant Cardiologist and Associate Professor, SKIMS said patients suffering from heart disease like Ischemic disease or heart failure, are at high risk of covid infection, adding that  such patients need to take precautions and follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

He said vaccination is very important for heart patients because vaccine acts as a shield against Covid infection.

While further emphasizing on vaccination, he requested everyone to get vaccinated to remain safe and secure.

While sharing his experience and observation, he said that vaccinated people get insulated against infection and they hardly catch infection. However, very few vaccinated individuals get mild infection but they recover immediately.

Dr Imran advised heart patients to consult  a doctor in case of catching infection and start appropriate treatment.

The Cardiologist informed that many people ask him about the risk to hypertension patients due to the Corona virus. He said hypertension is one of the common risk factors whose prevalence is 25 percent but every high blood pressure patient is not at risk, so people should not worry.

He further added that only those high blood pressure patients are at risk who are suffering from target organ damage (TOD) like renal failure, heart disease and associated diabetes.
