Lasting change needs collective effort: Chib

Takes Swachhta 50-50 campaign to doorsteps

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 07: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Wednesday took the Swachhta 50-50 campaign to the doorsteps of residents at Ajas, sensitising households on source segregation, home composting and responsible waste management.

During the outreach, the DC interacted with residents, explained key household-level waste-management practices and distributed QR codes for household participation and monitoring under the initiative.

The DC urged citizens to actively participate in the campaign and adopt sustainable waste-management practices at the household level, stressing that lasting change requires collective responsibility of the administration and the public.

The Swachhta 50-50 campaign is a flagship initiative of the District Administration Bandipora based on the principle of 50% Government and 50% Public participation for sustainable solid waste management.

The campaign focuses on source segregation, home composting, payment of user fees and adoption of cloth bags, with schools and Anganwadi Centres adopting households for sustained awareness and participation.
