LG, CM greet people on Gandhi Jayanti

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and calling for a renewed commitment to truth, non-violence, peace and harmony.

In separate messages, Sinha and Omar highlighted Gandhi’s enduring ideals and their relevance to building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous society.

Sinha said Gandhi’s principles of Satya, Ahimsa, Swadeshi, Swachhata and Sarvodaya continued to guide humanity and inspire people to work for the country’s growth and prosperity.

“Pujya Bapu showed the world that truth, non-violence and self-reliance are eternal paths to peace,” Sinha said, extending his greetings on Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary.

He called upon people to pay tribute to Gandhi by pledging to live by his principles and work together towards a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and a developed India.

Omar said Gandhi’s enduring message of truth, non-violence, peace and communal harmony continued to inspire generations and remained relevant in the contemporary world.

“Gandhi Ji showed the world the strength of truth, non-violence and compassion. His life and ideals continue to inspire us to work for peace, harmony, equality and human dignity,” the Chief Minister said.

Omar said Gandhi’s vision of India was rooted in unity, tolerance and respect for all, and called upon people to draw inspiration from his life and reaffirm their commitment to peace, harmony and social solidarity.
