3 drug peddlers arrested

Srinagar, Oct 01: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam & Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

In Kulgam, a police party from Police Post Mirbazar established a dynamic naka at Lassipora Crossing, intercepted and apprehended two suspicious persons. During search, 131.56 grams and 118.85 grams of Charas-like substance were recovered from their possession. The accused were identified as Mohsin Ahmad Ganie and Jasir Fayaz, both residents of Nillow, Kulgam.  In this connection, FIR No. 236/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigation is underway, a police spokesman said.

In Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Aishmuqam, while conducting naka checking, noticed a person moving in a suspicious manner. The individual was tactfully apprehended and identified as Fareed Ahmad Khan son of Ab Rasheed Khan resident of Nagbal Hapatnad. During his personal search, approximately 22 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR under Sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam, and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated its commitment to combating the menace of drugs and urged the general public to extend cooperation and share information regarding drug-related activities.
