Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has disbursed ₹3.22 crore in relief to families affected by flash floods and landslides in Rajouri constituency, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the Legislative Assembly.
Replying to a question by Rajouri MLA Iftikhar Ahmed during Question Hour, Abdullah said 149 family-wise cases relating to damage caused by flash floods and landslides had been received by the Rajouri district administration.
He said ₹40.61 lakh had been disbursed under State Disaster Response Fund norms, while another ₹2.81 crore had been released from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and distributed among affected families.
The government has also prepared a proposal for permanent restoration of 403 damaged roads and bridges in Rajouri district at an estimated cost of ₹185 crore.
Abdullah said damage worth ₹27.99 crore had been assessed to power infrastructure in Rajouri district due to heavy rains and flash floods in July, including ₹9.39 crore in Rajouri constituency.
Temporary power restoration was carried out through installation of an Emergency Restoration System tower on the 132-KV Rajouri-Draba transmission line, while the tendering process for permanent restoration is underway.
The Agriculture Department assessed damage to 416 hectares of maize, with 15 percent damage, and 101.50 hectares of paddy, with 65 percent damage, in Rajouri constituency.
The Chief Minister said damaged roads, bridges, water supply and power schemes had been temporarily restored, while detailed project reports for permanent restoration had been prepared and were under consideration. [KNT]
