Resuming operations

After the meeting of the leaders of the association and government officials, the Hot Mix Plant Owners Association has decided to stop its protest. The issue, which lasted for around 15 days, has been solved successfully.

The positive development indicates that the process of the Rs 223-crore blacktopping program covering 559-kilometer area will start soon.

Achieving a breakthrough was possible due to having a direct communication between the government and members of the Hot Mix Plant Owners Association.

The government was listening to members of the association denouncing serious problems regarding the classification of contractors, payment of royalties and not executed works by contractors.

The administration acknowledged the seriousness of all the issues and assured businesspeople in a quick resolution of the problem.

Considering that it is the right of the local population to receive quality public services, the association acted according to the requests of the society.

The resolution of the issue is an excellent example showing that the power of effective communications is more powerful than any kind of fighting.

The discontinuation of hot mix operations for 14 days meant that major infrastructure construction and the restoration of numerous eventual roads was put on hold.

The situation also affected ordinary travelers, young students, and patients.

However, with this agreement in place, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department is now poised to commence its works at full throttle.

Thus, this will not only return the road network in Kashmir to normalcy but also ensure transport of people and goods without problems right before the onslaught of winter.

To sum up, the rapid settlement of the issue between the government and the local community has paved the way for the new chapter of Kashmir development.
