NEW DELHI, June 22: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch NAFED’s digital auction platform, NAFEX.in, on Tuesday in New Delhi, marking a major step towards digitising agricultural produce auctions and enhancing transparency in cooperative marketing.
The launch will take place at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in the presence of Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir, Managing Director Deepak Agarwal and other senior officials.
Besides NAFEX.in, Shah will unveil three other key initiatives of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), including the NAFED-KALYAN scholarship scheme for children of farmers, the DRISHTI portal for inventory management of pulses and oilseeds, and an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal aimed at strengthening organisational efficiency.
According to NAFED, the auction portal has been developed to streamline auction-related activities through a transparent and technology-driven mechanism. The platform is expected to improve operational efficiency, simplify participation in auctions and strengthen digital governance in agricultural marketing.
A live demonstration of the registration process and the launch of auction operations on NAFEX.in will also be held during the programme.
The NAFED-KALYAN scholarship initiative seeks to support the education of farmers’ children and forms part of the organisation’s broader welfare measures for the farming community. During the event, Shah will distribute scholarship cheques to selected beneficiaries.
The DRISHTI portal has been designed to improve inventory management of pulses and oilseeds, while the ERP portal aims to integrate and modernise internal processes across the organisation.
Following the launch programme, Shah will meet NAFED’s Board of Directors. Officials will present the federation’s achievements, progress made on directions issued during the Minister’s previous visit and its future roadmap.
NAFED plays a key role in agricultural procurement, marketing and cooperative trade across the country. The organisation said the new initiatives are intended to strengthen cooperative institutions through technology-driven reforms while enhancing services for farmers and stakeholders.
The initiatives are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” and the government’s efforts to promote transparency, efficiency and farmer-centric development in the cooperative sector.
