New Delhi, March 2: Officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), inducted from State Civil Services and currently attending the 128th Induction Training Programme at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, called on the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Addressing the officers, the President underscored their pivotal role in nation-building, stating that their responsibilities now extend far beyond district or state priorities.
She said the expanded mandate demands a broader perspective that transcends departmental boundaries and dismantles administrative silos.
The President emphasised that collaboration among departments would enhance institutional coherence and strengthen the machinery of governance.
She noted that collective professionalism, coordination, and commitment are essential to driving development outcomes and upholding the highest standards of public service.
Stressing the significance of their new responsibilities, she said the officers are no longer administrators of a specific region but custodians of governance standards across the nation.
Every decision, she added, should align with the larger vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The President said IAS officers are expected to implement policies effectively to meet the needs and aspirations of the people. She urged them to draw upon their administrative experience and be guided by the spirit of ‘Nation First’ while addressing increasingly complex challenges.
Highlighting the importance of inclusive development, the President said India’s transformation into a developed nation would be meaningful only when its benefits reach the most vulnerable and deprived sections of society. She called upon the officers to ensure that no community is left behind due to geographical, social, or economic constraints.
She also stressed the need for sustainability and climate resilience, urging the officers to champion green practices, promote climate-adaptive governance, and ensure sustainable development. The President observed that the actions taken today would determine the quality of life for future generations.
