Srinagar, Jan 9: A soldier lost his life after accidentally slipping and falling from a height while proceeding for night patrolling duty in the Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Friday.
Officials said the incident occurred at Fathagard Sheeri Camp, where the soldier was deployed for duty. During movement for night patrol, he reportedly lost balance and fell from a height under unknown circumstances.
The injured soldier was immediately rushed to Government Medical College Baramulla for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Hira Lal, a resident of Haryana. His body has been kept at the mortuary of GMC Baramulla for post mortem examination and completion of medico legal formalities.
Officials said further proceedings are underway as per procedure. (CNS)
