India secure on key fronts after 10 yrs: Amit Shah

‘Decisive policies transformed internal security’

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the Narendra Modi Government has ensured enduring peace in Jammu and Kashmir, crediting firm decisions and consistent efforts over the last ten years for a marked improvement in the country’s internal security situation.

Addressing the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the Recruit Basic Course (RBC) Batch-93 at Panchkula (Haryana), Shah, said, “A few years ago, there were three big challenges in the country in the matter of law and order— left-wing extremism, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, and armed groups in the northeast. But after 10 years from the formation of the Modi government, there is peace in these three areas, and the country is safe on these three fronts.”

Shah said PM Modi led government stands like a rock with the states in their fight against drug and human trafficking, cybercrime, and organised crime.

He underlined that the Centre has been firmly backing states in tackling drug and human trafficking, cyber offences and organised crime. Addressing the recruits, Shah said the leadership was fully prepared to meet emerging challenges and urged them to reinforce its efforts.

Reiterating the Centre’s commitment, he said the Union government stands steadfastly with the states in maintaining law and order.

Shah also highlighted the enhanced role of forensic science under the newly enacted criminal laws, noting that in cases carrying punishment of more than seven years, a mandatory visit by forensic experts to the crime scene has been introduced to ensure effective prosecution and conviction of offenders.

He told the new constables that they were entering service at a historic moment, as colonial-era laws have now been replaced with modern criminal legislation. The current batch, he said, is the first from Haryana trained under the new legal framework.

A total of 5,061 constables from the batch were formally inducted into the state police force. Shah added that it is also the first batch in which 85 per cent of the recruits are graduates or higher qualified, with the average age being 26 years. (With Inputs from KNO)
