Long term absconder held: Police

Awantipora, November 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora on Friday said to have arrested an absconder, who was evading his arrest for a long time.
Awantipora Police received non-bailable warrants under section 299 CrPC/ 335 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita issued by the Hon’ble Principal Session Court Pulwama against an absconder Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Rashid Sheikh resident of Khrew. The absconder was involved in two cases registered at Police Station Pampore, a police spokesman said.
Accordingly, police said that a special team headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore was constituted and the accused person was arrested.  Subsequently, the arrested accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court of Law.
“The arrest of the absconder reflects the sustained efforts of J&K Police in tracking down long-term fugitives. J&K Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring that no offender escapes the reach of law, and such actions will continue in the future,” police added.
