Strengthening healthcare

In a short span of two months, Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council achieved an unprecedented and impressive new record by issuing 1,688 registration certificates to medical practitioners.

Such an extraordinary milestone demonstrates the JKMC’s dedication to ensuring registration is accelerated for appropriate qualified doctors to start serving the public of J&K in a timely manner.

These certificates consisted of: 542 permanent, 863 provisional, 132 additional qualification, 111 No Objection Certificate (NOC), and 40 good standing certificates, providing a full range of needs of the medical practitioners.

The accelerated pace of registration by JKMC not only makes it easier for doctors moving to new careers, it helps strengthen healthcare infrastructure of the Union Territory.

An expedited registration for new practitioners provides more doctors to enter the profession and reduced gap in healthcare service. That is truly significant for the remote and underdeveloped areas of J&K, where medical professionals are required.

JKMC’s actions signal an overall change to embrace transparency and digitization in its administrative approaches. Reducing red tape will not only develop a professional healthcare ecosystem, but responsive as well.

The release of NOCs and certificates of good standing will also enable doctors to seek work opportunities outside J&K, leading to collaborative learning, cooperation and opportunities for upgrading their knowledge and skills. Also, it is just one of the actions taken by JKMC under the autonomous vision of strengthening health care systems under the administration of Lieutenant Governor.

This action sends a great signal to both our Professionals and the general citizenry – that Jammu & Kashmir is serious about providing high standards of medical care, that is accessible to all.

JKMC starting action in this way, as the momentum grows, becomes a example for other states, not only for the professional medical fraternity but also for the general citizenry in Jammu & Kashmir. Opportunities to advance in the field of medicine, is not a negative, it is an opportunity as a Physicians Collaborator, for example the example above, once moving beyond the borders of J&K, becomes positive – and spreads like wild fire.

The council deserves to be congratulated for its efforts with this identifier, and may the future of health care governance work in J&K, be characterized by their level of efficiency.
