Srinagar, Jul 12: In a swift and professional action, Srinagar Police on Saturday said to have solved a theft case.
The case was reported by Mujeeb Ahmad Koul, S/o Noor-ud-Din Koul, R/o Malaratta, who stated that on 05/07/2025, unknown person(s) had broken into his residence and stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs, a police spokesman said.
Acting promptly, police said that a case under FIR number 35/2025 was registered at Police Station Nowhatta, and an investigation led by SHO Nowhatta was initiated.
“During the investigation, one suspect, Aman Javeed Zogi, S/o Javeed Ahmad Zogi, R/o Sarafkadal, was apprehended. His involvement was soon established, leading to the arrest of two accomplices including Asif Zahoor Khan, S/o Zahoor Khan, R/o Wantpora Sazgaripora and Salik Fayaz, S/o Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, R/o Mughal Masjid,” police said.
Srinagar Police have recovered the following items based on their disclosures including gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 8–10 lakhs, two iPhone 16 Pro devices worth Rs 2 lakhs, motorcycle worth Rs 1.5 lakhs and cash amounting to Rs 42,000.
“Preliminary findings suggest that these items were purchased using the proceeds of the stolen gold or by selling it. Further investigation is underway to trace any additional stolen property and identify possible involvement of other individuals,” the statement reads.
