Military veterans visit Chinar Corps

Srinagar, July 3: As the nation gears up to mark the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a delegation of Armed Forces veterans and Veer Naris (war widows) visited Chinar Corps Headquarters in Srinagar, paying tribute to the fallen heroes and celebrating the enduring spirit of patriotism and sacrifice.
The visit was organized as part of a prelude to the Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025 celebrations, led by the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad. The delegation, headed by Rear Admiral Rajvir Singh (Retd)—former Principal of the Indian Naval Academy—arrived at Badami Bagh Cantonment on July 2.
During their visit, the delegation paid homage at the Chinar War Memorial, visited the “Ibadat-e-Shahadat” museum, and engaged with the rich military and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The event served as a solemn reminder of the courage and sacrifice shown by Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War, when Pakistani intruders were valiantly evicted from the treacherous heights of Kargil.
Interacting with the Chinar Corps Commander, the veterans and Veer Naris discussed the vital role of ex-servicemen in contributing to nation-building and fostering stronger ties with civil society in Kashmir. The Corps Commander applauded the delegation’s unwavering commitment, energy, and camaraderie, calling them a living embodiment of the armed forces’ ethos—”Naam, Namak aur Nishaan” (Honour, Integrity, and Flag).
“Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just a day of remembrance; it is a celebration of valour, patriotism, and the nation’s indomitable spirit,” the Corps Commander said, adding that the phrase “Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier” continues to inspire generations.
The delegation will continue their journey to Drass and Kargil, where commemorative events are scheduled to take place later this month.
