In a truly outstanding display of strength for women’s empowerment, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met with members from the Kashmir Women’s Organisation (KWO) at Raj Bhawan.
Meetings such as this put the Government front and centre on the pursuit of gender equality and, affirms that Nari Shakti is at the core of building the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor’s acknowledgement of this worthy organisation, is emblematic of his respect for the efforts women in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are putting into collective struggle.
His remarks were, implicitly but decisively, an indication that women have been able to engage in every sector in society – education, entrepreneurship, governance, social service and in so doing they have claimed their rightful position critical to the growth and development of J&K.
These meetings are also very important in terms of closing the huge gap between what happens on the ground and what is developed for public policy and pubic engagement that includes direct engagement with women.
When women leaders speak to you about their hopes and challenges, and you are listening carefully, the administration sends the loudest of messages: you will determine the sustainability of your involvement on our part.
With unwavering commitment to women – agents and catalysts for change for development in community life, KWO is a strategically significant anchor for collective opportunity
From skills development to financial inclusion – the LG administration launched various initiatives with a linkage to the empowerment of women.
That is only positive developments in giving the raising political awareness to the issue reinforces the commitment of the administration to be the enabling force where women are able to prosper as equal stakeholders in this transformation within the region.
As we move together, ongoing conversations like this need to happen, and the collaboration between the government and civil society needs to be strengthened, because the Nari Shakti of Jammu and Kashmir is at the pivot point around which the balanced, equitable, and prosperous union territory is being accomplished.
Let us share in this spirit of empowerment, and as responsible partners we should come together to realize that each woman in J&K be provided the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.
If one woman prospers, we all prosper, and it is truly a good thing that the Lt. Governor Sinha is connecting with the Kashmir Women’s Organisation towards that end.
