IUST students gain industry insights

Awantipora: Electrical Engineering students from IUST visited Northern Railways in Banihal as part of the Industry Connect initiative.

The tour provided hands-on experience with advanced PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, highlighting their role in industrial automation and precise railway control.

A key part of the visit was a tour of a railway tunnel, showcasing safety and operational equipment such as ventilation systems, fire detection, and emergency communication setups.

This experience underscored the stringent safety standards required in high-risk environments.

The visit, organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Industry Connect Vertical of the Dean Outreach, aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical industry applications, preparing students for future technological challenges.
