Srinagar: Rakib Zia, renowned writer and social activist, has condoled the demise of legal luminary, eminent writer, and distinguished scholar on Kashmir, A.G. Noorani, who passed away in Mumbai.
In a statement, he noted that Noorani Sahab was a renowned lawyer, constitutional expert, and prolific author who made significant contributions to legal scholarship and political discourse in India for over six decades.
A.G. Noorani was widely respected for his insightful analysis of constitutional and human rights issues. He was a sincere person and a true friend and supporter of the people of Kashmir, with a deep and critical understanding of the Kashmir issue.
As an author, Noorani penned over a dozen books on various aspects of Indian constitutional law, politics, and history. Some of his notable works include The Kashmir Question (1964), Ministers’ Misconduct (1973), Constitutional Questions and Citizens’ Rights (2006), and The RSS: A Menace to India (2019). His writings often critically examined government overreach and the erosion of democratic norms.
