2 drug peddlers arrested
Srinagar: Police in Kulgam Tuesday attached property belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the NDPS Act.
The peddler has been identified as Barkatullah Mir, son of Mohd Abdullah Mir, a resident of Buchroo, Kulgam.
The attachment, police said, has been made under section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985.
The property that has been attached, according to the police, is an under-construction house on 10 Marla of land bearing survey No. 622.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of the investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam Police.”
The police stated that the property was prima facie acquired from the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner.
“The said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 69/2021 of Police Station Kulgam and FIR number 03/2018 of Police Station Yaripora,” the police added.
Meanwhile, police Tuesday arrested 2 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A Police party of PS Kulgam during patrolling at Bypass Kulgam near ChatabalBridge, intercepted two suspicious persons identified as MohdSadiqWaza son of Ghulam Muhammad Waza resident of ZiyaratgaliKulgam and Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Gull Mohd Sheikh resident of Chawalgam who after noticing Police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.
“During search, officers were able to recover 07 Kilogram of Grinded Cannabis Powder filled in the bags from their possession.”
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 09/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.
