Online grievance redressal platforms promoting transparency, accountability, and responsiveness

Srinagar: Power of effective governance has brought about transformative changes in the lives of common people in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The region has witnessed resurgence in prosperity and an improvement in the quality of life for its residents, largely attributed to the establishment of a robust grievance system that ensures citizen-centric services and accountability,” an observer told Precious Kashmir.

“One of the cornerstones of this transformation was the implementation of a dynamic grievance redressal mechanism that empowers the common man to voice their concerns, ensuring that their grievances are addressed promptly and effectively,” he added.

According to the officials the grievance redressal system has enabled citizens to register their complaints, seek information, and provide feedback on various government services. “These platforms are acting as a bridge between the administration and the people, promoting transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. Under this system, citizens can lodge complaints related to public services, infrastructure, administrative inefficiencies, and any other issues that affect their daily lives,” the officials added.

He said, “The grievance redressal portals are integrated with various government departments and agencies. This interconnectivity ensures that once a complaint is registered, it is automatically routed to the concerned department for timely action. Additionally, citizens receive updates on the status of their complaints, providing them with a real-time view of the progress being made. This transparency in the grievance redressal process has instilled a sense of trust in the administration, fostering a stronger citizen-government relationship.”

Ghulam Nabi Lone of Srinagar while sharing his experience, stated: “In the past, getting our issues addressed felt like an uphill battle. With the online platform, the process has become incredibly smooth. I registered a complaint about a faulty streetlight near my house, and within a week, it was fixed. This level of responsiveness was unimaginable before.”

An expert said, “The success of online grievances platforms can be attributed to the synergy between good governance principles and technological innovation. These platforms not only have streamlined the grievance redressal process but are also serving as a valuable source of data for policymakers. The insights gathered from the grievances registered help in identifying systemic issues and gaps in service delivery, allowing for targeted interventions and policy refinements.”

According to the officials, the significance of this grievance system extends beyond just addressing individual complaints. “It symbolizes a larger shift towards a citizen-centric governance model, where the administration actively seeks feedback and takes corrective measures to ensure the well-being of its constituents. This approach resonates with the vision of good governance, which emphasizes transparency, efficiency, rule of law, and citizen participation,” they added.
