CM condoles journalist Tariq Bhat’s demise

Visits his residence, prays for departed soul

Srinagar, Nov 05: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the residence of senior journalist and Bureau Chief of The Week magazine, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over Bhat’s untimely demise, recalling his invaluable contribution to journalism in Jammu and Kashmir. He described Bhat as a dedicated professional whose balanced and insightful reporting had earned him immense respect in media circles.
“The state has lost an upright journalist who always upheld the ethics of the profession. His work will continue to inspire generations of journalists,” the Chief Minister said, while extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
Expressing deep sorrow over Bhat’s sad demise, the Chief Minister lauded his contributions to journalism and public discourse in Jammu and Kashmir. He described Bhat as a committed professional whose work earned him wide respect and accolades in and outside Kashmir.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by State President of the J&K National Conference Women’s Wing and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous and State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar.
On the occasion CM joined the party’s functionaries in offering Fatiha for the departed soul and prayed for peace to the deceased and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Tariq Ahmad Bhat passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Srinagar.
A seasoned journalist with decades of experience, he was widely known for his integrity, humility, and deep understanding of Jammu and Kashmir’s socio-political landscape. His death has left the media fraternity in shock and mourning across the region.
