Srinagar, Nov 04: Continuing its special drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police in Ganderbal have seized 8 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal, Gund and Police Post Nagbal.
The vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid permission and were subsequently seized on the spot by concerned police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department.
Illegal extraction of minerals not only causes loss to the public exchequer but also leads to severe environmental degradation. Police has reiterated its firm resolve to take strict action against those involved in such unlawful activities.
The general public is once again advised to refrain from indulging in illegal mining and transportation of minerals. Strict legal action shall be taken against the violators.
