80 Challans issued against various offences, fine of Rs. 99k imposed against erring
ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 16: In a focused effort to enhance road safety and reduce traffic violations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Anantnag, under ARTO, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat conducted a comprehensive vehicle checking drive across Anantnag town and its surrounding areas today.
During the drive, over 250 vehicles were inspected, leading to the issuance of 84 challans for various traffic offences. Key violations included driving without insurance, over-speeding, route permit infractions, and failure to wear seat belts and headgear.
Additionally, several vehicles were found lacking High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP), while others were ticketed for improper parking.
The total revenue generated from the fines is expected to amount to Rs. 99,500.
Furthermore, the operation led to the issuance of 10 notices for the suspension of driver’s licenses (DL), and 4 vehicle registration certificates (RCs) were recommended for suspension due to serious violations.
Emphasizing the importance of following traffic rules, the ARTO team stressed that these measures not only help avoid penalties but are also crucial for ensuring the safety of all road users. Authorities indicated that similar vehicle checking drives will continue in the future as part of ongoing efforts to maintain road discipline and curb accidents in the region.
