Srinagar:  Senior BJP leader and party’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma Wednesday termed the National Conference resolution on Article 370 as “fake” stating that it lacks legal validity.
“This is a fake resolution and lacks the legal validity,” Sharma said.
He said Article 370 is history as the Supreme Court and Parliament has sealed it. “No one is above parliament. Omar Abdullah and his party is trying to befool the people of J&K on the subject that has been closed forever,” he said.
Sharma said that Congress must come clean on whether it supports the resolution. “Rahul Gandhi and Malikarjun Kharge must clarify whether they support NC’s resolution. The contents of the resolution are clear about restoration of Article 370. We want Congress leadership to clarify its stand on the issue,” he said. Meanwhile, BJP MLA R S Pathania said BJP will not be part of the Assembly proceedings till the Speaker announces roll back of Article 370 resolution. “We will not be part of the Assembly proceedings till the Speaker rolls back the resolution passed today,” he said.
BJP MLA and opposition leader Sunil Sharma criticized a resolution introduced by Rulling National Conference in the assembly today, calling it “unconstitutional” and lacking any legal sanctity.
Sunil Sharma told news reporters in Srinagar as per KINS that the resolution was abruptly presented without prior notice to members, disrupting the scheduled agenda.
Sharma stated that this resolution contradicts the decision of both the Supreme Court and the Indian Parliament regarding Article 370, which was abrogated in 2019.
He said that “no assembly has the authority to challenge a parliamentary decision,” particularly one that has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
Sunil Sharma also questioned the Congress Party’s stance, urging its leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, to clarify whether they support the resolution.
He warned that if they do, the people of India would demand answers.
Sharma further accused the National Conference and PDP of “provoking youth” and instigating unrest by attempting to resurrect slogans around Article 370.
He stated that BJP has consistently delivered on its promises, from abrogating Article 370 to electoral reforms, and remains committed to granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at an “appropriate time.” Sharma concluded by condemning the assembly’s actions and vowed that BJP would protest the resolution until it is retracted, ensuring that development and peace remain the priorities for Jammu and Kashmir.
