Srinagar, Feb 02: In a commendable demonstration of dedication and commitment to the local community, the Indian Army played a crucial role in aiding residents of Bhujthala village in Boinyar.
On the night of January 31, amidst heavy snowfall, the Army provided assistance in carrying the mortal remains of eight civilians on foot.
The incident occurred when an SUV carrying 15 individuals from Bhujthala Village skidded off the road, tumbling 100 meters down a steep hillside, resulting in nine fatalities and six non-fatal casualties.
Faced with the challenge of transporting the deceased, the villagers encountered difficulty due to the slippery roads and harsh weather conditions.
Seeking assistance, the civil administration reached out to the Indian Army, which promptly dispatched a team from Lachhipura to aid in the operation.
Armed with medical stretchers, the Army team reached the accident site and successfully transported the mortal remains.
Overcoming the challenging conditions, the team improvised stretchers on the spot using bedsheets and poles from a civil ambulance, along with cots from nearby houses, ensuring the dignified transport of the deceased during the night.
The following day, the mortal remains of two additional civilians were also transported to the village.
