Legacy of martyrs will continue to inspire generations: DGP

Jammu, February 01: The Director General of Police, J&K, R.R Swain Thursday expressed deep heartfelt and sincere gratitude on his behalf and also on behalf of extended J&K Police pariwar to the Lt. Governor J&K Manoj Sinha and UT administration for the recent government order to rename 33 government schools, colleges, and roads after martyrs and eminent personalities.

The DGP has said that the initiative stands as a touching and honourable tribute to the brave hearts who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The act of naming public infrastructure after the fallen heroes is a powerful way to eternally commemorate their martyrdom. By associating their names with educational institutions and roads, the legacy of these martyrs will continue to inspire present and future generations, the DGP said.

As has been reported, to honour and pay tributes to the brave martyrs and eminent personalities, the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration has in a recent order announced the renaming of 33 schools/colleges and roads after the names of martyrs and eminent personalities as a mark of respect and acknowledgement of the exceptional contributions towards the security and development of the Union Territory, 24 Schools/colleges and roads across UT have been named after the martyrs of JK Police Pariwar. As per the order the 24 schools/colleges/roads named after JKP martyrs include: Government Degree College (Boys), Anantnag has been renamed after martyr Dy.SP Himayun Muzamil Bhat, Government Boys High School, Narwara Srinagar has been renamed after martyr Inspector Masroor Ali Wani, Government High School (Lehar) Sungal, Akhnoor, Jammu has been renamed after martyr HC Rachhpal Singh,  SPO Shaheed Tanveer Ahmed Memorial Cricket Ground, Sargali, Ramban  has been renamed after SPO  Tanveer Ahmed, Ramsoo Chowk as “Shaheed Irshad Ahmad Chowk” Ramban has been renamed after martyr SgCt Irshad Ahmad, Neel Chowk in Ramban as “Shaheed Abdul Rehman Malik Chowk” has been renamed after martyr HC Abdul Rehman,  Government Middle School, Dudha Bhajmasta in Ramban renamed after martyr SPO Jagdish Singh, Shaheed Shankar Singh Road, Ukhral to Bhangra in Ramban has been renamed after martyr SPO Shankar Singh, Ind Martyrs Road in Ramban has been renamed after martyrs  SgCt Nisar Ahmad, SPO Sher Mohd, SPO Shadi Lal, SPO Sher Singh, SPO Mohd Iqbal, SPO Fareed Ahmad and SPO Angrez Singh, Shaheed Naseeb Singh Taxi Stand, Nabul in Ramban has been renamed after martyr SPO Naseeb Singh, Shaheed Jattu Ram Chowk, Marog in Ramban has been renamed after martyr SPO Jattu Ram, Shaheed Mohd Saleem Chowk, Sirlan in Ramban has been renamed after martyr SPO Mohd Saleem, Shaheed Anar Singh Chowk, Hunga in Ramban has been renamed after martyr SPO Anar Singh, Shaheed Abdul Majeed Bus Stand, Panchal in Ramban has been renamed after martyr Ct.
