Srinagar, January 23: A contingent comprising 17 beneficiaries of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) and Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technicians in Rural India (MAITRIs) was on Tuesday flagged off for their participation in the upcoming Republic Day Celebrations in New Delhi.
The flag-off event was conducted by Altaf Ahmad Laway, CEO of the Livestock Development Board, Kashmir, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries.
Expressing his pride, Laway stated that it is a significant moment for Rashtriya Gokul Mission beneficiaries and MAITRIs to receive a special invitation from the central government to participate in the Republic Day Parade 2024.
“This marks the first time that such an initiative has been taken by the Central Government to boost the morale of Rashtriya Gokul Mission beneficiaries,” he said.
Highlighting the contribution of these individuals to the livestock sector in Kashmir division, Laway emphasized that their participation in the Republic Day Parade serves as recognition of their efforts.
The Rashtriya Gokul Mission involves training and deploying unemployed individuals in the Animal Husbandry sector, who serve as MAITRIs – Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technicians in Rural India.
These skilled professionals receive incentives, including Rs. 100 for the first Artificial Insemination, Rs. 200 for the second, and Rs. 100 for each subsequent birth, as part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme – Rashtriya Gokul Mission (CSS-RGM).
