New Delhi: In a groundbreaking development, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has reported an extraordinary 70.69% increase in its budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, reaching an unprecedented Rs. 12,461.88 crore compared to the previous year’s Revised Estimate (RE) of Rs. 7,301.00 crore.
“This substantial increase underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of Scheduled Tribes and the preservation of their rich heritage,” an official said.
According to the details available with Precious Kashmir an astounding Rs. 1,17,943.73crore has been allocated to the DAPST, signifying a significant step towards uplifting and empowering tribal communities across the nation.
Pertinently, Prime Minister NarendraModi had launched the transformative PM-JANMAN initiative on Jan JatiyaGaurav Divas.
This mission, backed by a substantial budget of around Rs. 24,000 crores, aims to address 11 critical interventions through nine key ministries, focusing on the most Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), officials said.
“PM Modi inaugurated a mission to eliminate sickle cell anaemia from the country by 2047. The mission targets the screening of over 8 croretribals under 40 years of age, with data for 90 lakh individuals already collected. A nationwide celebration on the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter BhagwanBirsaMunda, marked by the participation of President DraupadiMurmu, PM Modi, and other eminent dignitaries,” they added.
In the recent past PM Modi inaugurated AadiMahotsav, a national tribal festival, witnessing over Rs. 3 crores in tribal product sales. President Murmu inaugurated an EMRS in Odisha, with PM Modi inaugurating six more in Rajasthan, benefiting 2880 tribal students.
The Ministry, according to the officials, disbursed scholarships worth Rs. 1,692.47 crores, benefiting 32.22 lakh tribal students. Over 23.43 lakh land titles, totaling over 1.8 crore acres, were distributed under the Forest Rights Act.
NESTS, in collaboration with Amazon India, launched Phase II of the ‘Amazon Future Engineer Programme’ for EMRSs, providing advanced programming and artificial intelligence curriculum. The Ministry initiated a month-long Special Campaign 3.0 for cleanliness drives and disposal of pending matters.
“This monumental surge in funding and transformative initiatives signifies a paradigm shift in the government’s approach towards tribal welfare. Aligned with the vision of ‘SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas, SabkaVishwas, and SabkaPrayaas,’ the Ministry’s efforts aim to ensure the benefits of flagship schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries, marking a significant stride towards inclusive and sustainable development.
