KU workshop to empower school teachers with pedagogical competencies

Srinagar: To empower school teachers with pedagogical competencies and to equip them with skills that foster enriching classroom experience, the Department of Education, Kashmir University inaugurated a seven-day national workshop here.

Titled ‘Building Pedagogical Competencies Among School Teachers,’ commenced on December 20 and will feature a comprehensive exchange of knowledge and expertise to make teaching-learning more enriching and more impactful.

Dean College Development Council (DCDC), Kashmir University (KU), Prof Khursheed Ahmad Butt said that the evolution of novel teaching methodologies and assessment techniques is vital in modern classrooms.

“Effective teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future of our nation by nurturing talents and contributing to its socioeconomic growth,” he said.

Dean School of Education and Behavioural Sciences, KU, Prof Tasleema Jan said that pedagogical skills are the cornerstone of effective teaching.

“This workshop is a testament to our commitment to implementing NEP-2020, aiming to equip teachers with skills that foster enriching classroom experiences,” she said.

Head, Department of Education, Dr Mahmood Ahmad Khan said that such workshops play a pivotal role in updating teachers for an effective teaching-learning process, aligning them with the requisites of NEP 2020.

“The importance of evolving teachers to meet the demands of the new educational paradigm cannot be overstated,” he added.

Faculty, Department of Education, KU, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Rather conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session, while Faculty, Department of Education, KU, Dr Amina Parveen presented the vote of thanks.
