Newly joined terrorist killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar: A newly joined terrorist was killed in an encounter in Kathohalan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

A senior police officer told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Kathohalan area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the terrorist fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

“During the exchange of fire, a terrorist who had joined TRF only this month, was killed while search operation is on in the area,” he said .

The slain terrorist has been identified as Mysar Ahmad Dar from Vishro Shopian.

“One (01) #terrorist affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit TRF neutralised. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow.” Kashmir police zone said in a post on ‘X’—(KNO)
