3 notorious drug smugglers booked in Bla: Police

Srinagar: Acting tough against drug smugglers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu & Kashmir Police on Monday said to have booked three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.

The three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers namely Umar Mohiuddin Ahanger son of Gh Mohiuddin resident of Goom Ahmadpora, Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Late Samander Khan resident of Wanigam Bala Pattan & Peerzada Mudasir Ahmad Shah @ Bata son of Peerzada Mohammad Maqbool Shah resident of Chanderseer Pattan have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, a police spokesman said.

Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Kreeri, Pattan & other areas of District Baramulla, police said.

“Despite their involvement in many FIRs they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” police said.

General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
