Future Ready

Of late, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has surfaced as a transformative and innovative technology that influences various facets of lives including health care, finance, entertainment and transportation.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to make inroads, it invokes a fundamental question as to whether one should move towards it with swiftness and not rush towards it.

On Sunday, Lieutenant Governor chaired a high-level meeting with the prime objective of drawing a roadmap, integrating technological advancements into the system to create more values through good governance.

As rightly observed by the Lieutenant Governor, change is the only constant and every sector has to imagine a future in the backdrop of the increasing role of humans and machines and their collective strength for growth,” the Lt Governor said.

In such a scenario, there is need for integration of Artificial Intelligence and new technological tools to plan schemes more effectively and to make public services more efficient.

Artificial Intelligence surely holds great promise, more so in healthcare. Artificial Intelligence powered diagnostic tools are capable of analysing vast datasets swiftly and with unparalleled accuracy.

This empowers medical professionals to detect diseases at their nascent stages, making easy the design of more effective treatment plans. The AI-driven drug discovery is poised to revolutionise pharmaceutical research, expediting the development of life-saving medications.

Technological adoption and increased human and machine collaboration will surely enable informed decision making, improve policy making processes, target resources and services urgently required for quality living of citizens and speedy implementation of projects, he said.

There is also need to adopt a strategic and integrated approach to effectively tackle the various growing challenges like climate change, cyber threat and issues in health, education and agriculture.

The Planning Development & Monitoring Department needs to prepare for the significant shift to maximize the benefits of government schemes for the citizens and minimize the risk and loss.

Without any doubt, Artificial Intelligence is gaining ground in healthcare for diagnostics and telemedicine, addressing rural health care challenges.

Besides improving policy performance, managing the complex challenges of the future and addressing disruptive changes that will occur in the future, the integrated approach will help us to develop a system of Citizen-Driven Policies, he said.

In order to achieve the vision of developed J&K, there is need to set the goals for the next three years with Agriculture and Education as two priority sectors, the Lieutenant Governor rightly emphasized.
