Rajnath to visit Jammu on Sep 12, will inaugurate 90 BRO projects

 Jammu: Moving forward the development journey of the government, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to visit Jammu and Kashmir on September 12 to inaugurate airstrips, helipads among 90 Border Road Organizations projects built along the northern and western borders.

Officials told a local news gathering agency that as per his tentative schedule, the Union Minister will visit Jammu on September 12 to inaugurate 90 infrastructure projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) including airstrips and helipads, a spokesperson of the ministry said.

The projects include 21 roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two air strips, and two helipads, he said.

Singh will visit Samba district and inaugurate Devak Bridge on Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur road, where he will also address a public meeting after inauguration, officials informed.

The Union minister will also likely take part in the northern tech North Tech Symposium at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu, which is commencing from September 11.

The Northern Command is holding the prestigious North Tech Symposium, as a joint initiative with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) under the aegis of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), at IIT Jammu from September 11 to 13, 2023.

Earlier, BRO Director General Rajeev Chaudhry Defence informed that defence minister will soon dedicate to BRO’s projects to nation,

“The bridge, located approximately 3.5 km from the International Border, spans 422 metres,” he added. Other important projects included road along Akhnoor-Poonch border, four tunnels of Kandi, Sungal, Nowshera, and Bhimbergali, strategic hinterland road of Bani-Basholi-Baderwah, 89 km of road between Basholi and Bani, ambitious Chatergalla tunnel. Officials said that these new roads and bridges are capable of ensuring efficient movement of all vehicle types, even in challenging circumstances. (KNO)
