Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have received a confirmation about the attachment of drug smugglers’ illegally acquired property in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a police spokesman said.
“On 27-06-2023, a Police party of PS Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz attached an under construction house on land measuring 10 marlas at Main Mohalla Pattan belonging to drug smuggler namely Barkat Ali Main son of Mohammad Maqbool Main resident of Mian Mohalla Pattan after obtaining legal sanction from competent authorities,” a police spokesman said.
Police said that the said house was linked to case FIR number 84/2023 under section 8/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Pattan.
“Similarly, another Police party of PS Kreeri under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf attached vehicle (Hyundai i10) bearing registration number DL2AE-2820 belonging to Abdul Rehman Malik son of Ghulam Mohd resident of Kalantra Payeen after obtaining legal sanction from the competent authorities,” police said.
The said vehicle was linked to case under FIR number 33/2023 under section 8/20, 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Kreeri. The investigations proved that the said movable/ immovable properties were gained from illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers, police said.
“Simultaneously, the attachment of property orders of Baramulla Police was referred to Competent Authority & Administrator Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property Act, 1976 and Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 & Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act 1988 New Delhi and same was approved in terms of clause (g) of section 68B of the NDPS Act,” police said.
“The confirmation order so received regarding attachment of properties from SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi has boosted the morale of Police officers who are acting tough against the drug smugglers and drug trafficking in the district,” police added.
Moreover, police said that orders regarding attachment of other properties falling within the ambit proceeds of narcotics shall be forwarded to SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi for confirmation in near future.
“Police are committed to act tough against the drug smugglers and with regard to attachment of moveable, immovable property which has been obtained from illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers,” police said.
