Bovine vaccination drive to curb possible LSD disease returns

Srinagar: In-charge Frozen Semen Centre Gund Hassi Bhat along with other veterinary staff remains vigilant for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) vaccination since 10 days while almost all the area within their jurisdiction has been covered.

“Large area, three villages attached with FSC center which include Lawaypora, Sozeith and Gund Hassi Bhat and population of bovine is more than thousand and which was itself challenging task to vaccinate, and we have covered almost all area”, says Pharmacist In-charge.

“We are  a team of four members including two from other center attached for the vaccination on provision basis to current overloading factor in the area”, he further added.

Team of veterinary staff includes Incharge Naseer Ahmad, a lady pharmacist and two guest pharmacists Bashir Ahmad and Vikas are visiting door to door to vaccinate the cows, buffalos, heifer, calf, bull, bullock, ox, beef, boss and bossy. These animals are vulnerable for LSD diseases which returns in animals found in many states of country and contrary to that vaccination had been started.

Lumpy Skin Disease emerged in India in July 2022, which is viral infection transmitted in blood by insects, and mosquito’s causes fever and nodules on the skin causing deaths and had killed thousands of animals in India last year.
