Mughal Road closed as shooting stones delay road clearance operation

Poonch: The Mughal Road remained closed for the vehicular movement on Wednesday as the shooting stones continue to occur along the road, thus simultaneously affecting the road clearance work, officials said.

A major landslide had hit the road at Ratta Chamb in Poonch on Tuesday evening and debris of slide including trees fell on road, prompting authorities to suspend the vehicular movement along the road.

Officials told a local news gathering agency that the road clearance work couldn’t be started due to the continuous shooting stones today.

“We were not able to start our work for slide clearance due to continuous shooting stones and bad weather conditions,” Executive Engineer of Mughal Road Department, Mohammad Shokat Ali said.

He informed that the debris of slide is continuously moving downwards.

Meanwhile, people of the region have demanded immediate restoration of road, seeking adequate deployment of men and machinery in Mughal Road Projects for swift and timely response towards such emergencies. (KNO)
