DC Srinagar finalises plan under Aspirational Block Development programme

Works worth Rs 2.50 crore to be taken up in Harwan and Khonmoh blocks during FY 2023-24

SRINAGAR:  In order to review the proposed Plan for smooth implementation of Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP) in Harwan and Khonmoh Blocks of Srinagar District, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here today at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

During the meeting, it was given out that in Srinagar District, Harwan and Khonmoh Blocks are being taken up under Aspirational Block Development Programme based on 10 performance indicators covering various aspects Poverty, Health & Nutrition Education and Basic Infrastructure development of the concerned Block.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a sector wise Plan Proposal of all the line Departments in consonance with the set indicators.

While reviewing the proposals submitted by the Departments, the DC exhorted upon the concerned Officers and works departments to make incorporate Special Component Plan in convergence mode to bring improvement on key indicators of development in Harwan and Khonmoh Blocks of the District. He asked them to reframe the plan in this regard by May 02, 2023. He also called for meeting all 10 quantifiable indicators which are prerequisite for availing Rs 2.50 crore under Aspirational Block Development Programme to undertake developmental activities in Harwan and Khonmoh Blocks in the District.

On the occasion, the DC asked the concerned Departments to adopt best practices and innovative ideas so as to get tangible results on ground and overall socio-economic development of the people. He also asked them to take necessary interventions to fill the gaps achieve the set goals.

The Chief Agriculture Officer was asked to explore the scope of the schemes suitable for the climate of these Blocks and go for Hydroponics and Aeroponics kind of farming methods in Harwan and Khonmoh Blocks under Aspirational Block Development Programme. Hydroponics and aeroponics are methods of growing plants that does not use soil but instead uses only a nutrient solution in water and grow plants in the air without the use of soil respectively.

The School Education Department was asked to lay focused attention towards SAMAGRA Shiksha to further strengthen the education scenario in the identified Panchayat Blocks for improvement and holistic education setup.

Similarly, the DC asked the Chief Medical Officer to incorporate procurement of essential equipments in the plan to further strengthen the health care facilities under Aspirational Block Development Programme.

Likewise, the ICDS and RDD authorities were asked to incorporate establishment of four number of model Health cum Nutrition Centres in the plan to ensure beneficiaries avail the facilities of Anganwari center and vaccination/immunization of children under one roof in effective manner.

Chief Planning Officer, Programme Officer, ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
