Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“In Budgam, acting on an information that one Abdul Hamid Mir son of Abdul Ahad Mir resident of Badran has concealed narcotic substance at his house. Accordingly, a police team from Police Station Magam raided the specific house and conducted the search,” a police spokesman said.
During the search, police party was able to recover 1KG & 800 Grams of Charas like substance in powdered form from the house. The accused person was arrested on the spot and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police said.
“In Baramulla, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla assisted by SHO PS Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Fatehfarh Crossing Sheeri arrested two (02) drug peddlers identified as Arbaaz Ahmad Khan son of Riyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Cheradari & Fasil Mehraj Mir son of Mehraj Ud Din Mir resident of Zandfaran. During their personal checking 100 grams of charas like substance was recovered. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
In Shopian, Police Station Zainapora has reliably learnt that one person namely Sameer Ahmad Ganie son of Mohamad Yousf Ganie resident of Dhobi Mohalla Zainapora has concealed contraband like substance in his residential house at Zainapora. Accordingly, a Police party from PS Zainapora alongwith concerned Executive Magistrate raided the said house and recovered 18.5Kgs of Charas like substance. The accused involved in the commission of crimes has been arrested on the spot. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police added.
Accordingly, police said that the cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
