After decades, cinema halls running house-full in Sgr: PM Modi

Says our development has shut accounts of many

‘True secularism is ensuring Govt schemes reach all’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke about Srinagar cinema halls running houseful in Kashmir. The halls are playing the hit film Pathaan.

“After decades, cinema halls are running house-full in Srinagar,” PM Modi said during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. He was speaking on the issue of the improvement in the security situation in the Union Territory.

He also spoke about the rise in tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir.”Har Ghar Tiranga has been successful in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also said that true secularism is ensuring that benefits of different government schemes reach all the beneficiaries.

“We have transformed the working culture with the power of technology. Our focus is on increasing speed and enhancing scale,” Modi said in Rajya Sabha while replying to the Motion of Thanks to President’s address in the Upper House.

“To ensure that cent per cent beneficiaries avail the welfare schemes, and that cent per cent benefit reaches them, we chose a path of ‘saturation’. Our government marches on such a path of honesty that ‘saturation’ is the true ‘secularism’ for it,” the Prime Minister said.

“Achieving ‘saturation’ means no discrimination whatsoever, as the discrimination breeds corruption.

“We have committed to ‘saturation’ where we want the benefits of every scheme to reach 100 per cent of the beneficiaries. This is true ‘secularism’, and we are working honestly towards achieving it,” the PM added.

Modi further said that the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme has enabled transfers worth Rs 27 lakh crore to the accounts of the beneficiaries.

“The transparency brought has saved Rs 2 lakh crore of the nation from seeping into the ‘wrong ecosystem’. The Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity has been truly transformative,” he said.

Modi said that the BJP government has transformed the working culture with the help of the power of technology.

“Our focus is on increasing the speed and enhancing the scale. In this Amrit Kaal, our aim is 100 per cent saturation of schemes,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking on the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha hit back at the Congress saying other than providing lip-service, it did nothing for the people but in the past 9 years, the BJP has opened 48 crore Jan Dhan accounts across the country.

Targeting Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who had launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister and his government over the Adani issue on Wednesday, PM Modi said: “Khargeji complains that I visit Kalaburagi too often. He should see the work done there. As many as 1.70 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts have been opened in Karnataka, including over 8 lakh in Kalaburagi.

“While general public is being empowered, the accounts of many are getting shut and I understand their pain,” said PM Modi taking a jibe at the opposition.

“In the last 3-4 years, around 11 crore houses have got tap water connections. For the empowerment of common people, we started the Jan Dhan account movement. In the last 9 years, 48 crore Jan Dhan accounts were opened across the country,” said PM Modi on the developmental measures undertaken by the present government.

Further targetting the Congress said, he said: “When I became the Prime Minister in 2014, I saw that the Congress had created problems and issues everywhere, even though they wanted to create a strong foundation for India’s overall development.”

Commenting upon Congress’s slogan on poverty, PM Modi continued, “They (Congress) used to say ‘Gareebi Hatao’ but did nothing for over 4 decades. As against them, we work hard to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people of the country. Our priority is the common public, and this is the reason we made LPG connections available to 25 crore families in the country.”

However, as the Prime Minister’s address continued in the upper house, a slogan from opposition “We want JPC” also rang simultaneously in the House. (With Inputs From IANS)
