Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police along with army and paramilitary personnel have busted a hideout in Awantipora and arrested four militant associates linked with Lashker-e-Toiba, officials said on Monday.
“On a specific input, Police along with Army (42RR) and CRPF 180 Bn launched a cordon and search operation at Hafoo Nigeenpora forests,” a police spokesperson said, adding, “During search, a hideout used by (militants) was busted and subsequently destroyed.” He said incriminating materials and other items were recovered from the hideout.
Accordingly, he said, a case (FIR No. 10/2023) under relevant sections of law was registered in police station Tral and investigation was initiated.
“During the preliminary investigation, so far four (militant) associates linked LeT have been arrested,” he said. They have been identified as Arif Bashir Bhat, Mohsin Ahmad Lone, Manzoor Ahmad Wani and Irshad Ahmad Ahangar, all residents of Reshipora. “They were involved in providing logistic support to active (militants) of LeT in the area,” he claimed, adding, “Investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected.”
