JKHC elects Babar Chowdhary as president of Restaurant & Cafe committee

Mushtaq Chaya assured full support to new committee

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club Sunday held a Restaurant Committee meeting at Nigeen Club under the chairmanship of Mushtaq Chaya.

The meeting was also attended by Farooq Hafiz (Sonmarg President), Musadiq Shaw (Junior Vice Chairman), Junaid Shahdad (Treasurer), Nazir Mir (Coordinator), Showkat Chowdhary, G.N. Var and Saqib Beigh (Secretary General Gulmarg Chapter).

During the meet, Babar Chowdhary of Hat Trick Group was elected as President of the Restaurant and Cafe Committee of JKHC and Osman Burza was elected as Vice President. The members raised various issues related to restaurants and cafes.

Chaya assured full support to the new committee stating that all issues related to restaurant and cafe will be brought up with higher officials so that young entrepreneurs can avail all opportunities for the smoothĀ  functioning of their businesses.

Members of JKHC suggested that food festivals should be organized at tourist destinations in association with the department of tourism.Ā  The newly elected President Babar Chowdhary said that restaurants are now a significant industry and one of the biggest industries of the valley. Nearly 50,000 people have directly associated with this industry and indirectly two lac people are involved in this industry.

Restaurant industry should organize food festivals, locals, national and international in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and also the tourists are not confined to only hotel rooms they go out and try the food of our Kashmir.

Besides, Secretary General Tariq Ghani welcomed the new members to JKHC and assured full support and cooperation.

Meanwhile, as per the statement, 15 new restaurant and cafe owners joined JKHC as members.
