Srinagar: The parents and students studying in Government Hr. Secondary School Mill Stop, Zadibal Friday urged the authorities for immediate installation of unbreakable speed breakers near the school gate, which also houses the Boys middle school in its premises.
Talking to this newspaper, the parents and locals of the area highlighted the need for regulation of traffic outside the school gate to ward off any untoward incident.
They said the area witnesses a huge volume of traffic all day especially during the peak hours.
“There are apprehensions of accidents at this point as there is heavy roll of pupil studying in these institutions especially those in lower classes. When the students enter or exit the school there is every apprehension of any accident near the school gate. Hence there is an immediate need of some vigilance from traffic police or at least they should install a couple of speed breakers near main gate of the school,” said Bashir Ahmed Sofi, a local.
He added that the Staff, students and parents equally find it hard to negotiate the traffic rush at the school gate.
“The spot requires immediate installation of a few speed breakers on both sides of the school entrance for the safety of the students in particular. So that the flow of traffic is somewhat regulated considering the location of the said institution,” a parent explained.
A student said that while leaving the school they fear to venture out as they encounter huge traffic rush of over speeding vehicles. “We fear to cross the road,” he said.
