2 AK rifles, pistol,10 Heroin packets recovered in Uri: Police 

Srinagar: Police along with army on Friday recovered arms and ammunition besides 10 packets of Heroine along LoC in Kamalkote Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
A senior police officer told GNS that a joint team of Police and 8RR of army recovered two AK 74 rifles, two pistols, 117 AK rounds and 10 packets of Narcotics (Heroin) from Kamalkote area of Uri.

Army said based on specific input of infiltration by multiple intelligence agencies and JKP in Uri Sector, an intelligence based operation was launched by Army in general area astride line of control from 29 November to 1 December. “During this operation, teams of Indian Army observed initiation of own early warning mechanisms close to line of control and immediately launched search and destroy operation in the area,” a defence ministry based spokesman here said, adding, “During the course of this operation warlike stores and narcotic substance including two AK 74 Assault Rifles, two Chinese pistols along with two AK 74 Assault Rifle Magazines and two pistol magazines and 117 rounds of AK 74 Assault Rifle Ammunition and 10 sealed packets of white narcotic substance (likely to be heroin) with Pakistani markings were recovered on December 1 at 300 meters from of Line of Control onto own side.”  (GNS)
