2 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama: Police

Srinagar:  Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesman said that a Police Party from Police Station Rajpora at a checkpoint established at Pachhar intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.

“During checking, 1Kg of dried Cannabis concealed in two Nylon bags were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Aqib Fayaz Wani son of Fayaz Ahmad Wani resident of Bamnoo and Zubair Ahmad Wani son of Bashir Ahmad Wani resident of Ichgooz Pulwama. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” police said.

Accordingly, police said a case under vide FIR number 96/2022 under relevant section of law stands registered in Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
