Department of Education at KU’s South Campus holds alumni meet

Srinagar: The Department of Education at the Kashmir University’s South Campus held its maiden alumni meet.

Prof Showkat Ahmad Shah, Dean, School of Education and Behavioral Sciences was the chief guest at the event, who highlighted the objectives and rationale for conducting such meets.

Prof Mahmood Ahmad Khan, who was the guest of honour, stressed upon the need to strengthen the communication between the department and its alumni.

Director South Campus Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday delivered the inaugural address and termed the alumni as the “backbone” of any institution. He underlined the need to maintain constant contact with the alumni.

It will be an annual feature of the campus to organise alumni meets in all the departments in future, Dr Khanday said.

Moomin Jan, Coordinator, Department of Education, South Campus, delivered the welcome address and laid emphasis on inspiration which students draw from such events.

The event was attended by a huge number of alumni comprising M.A Education and M.Ed students of batches (2009-2020) who shared their experiences and achievements.

Among the alumni who shared their experiences were Mr. Tawseef Ahmad Parray, Assistant Professor, Higher Education (batch 2012), Mohammad Yousuf Dar, Teacher (batch 2013), Ayaz-ul-Ayoub, Teacher, (Batch 2018) and others.

Besides the coordinators, faculty members from various departments of the campus and the students attended the event.

Many students performed cultural activities, which included singing of university tarana, qawali, Kashmiri folk dance and a musical chair game.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by Nafia and Shifa, students of the department, while Dr M Z Rafiqi delivered the vote of thanks.
